Gorkha : The Manaslu Conservation Area has
long been popular amongst adventurous trekkers and trail runners in
the know. More remote than many of Nepal’s more established trekking areas,
this secluded wilderness offers insights into authentic Hindu and Tibetan-style
Buddhist villages and spectacular views of the two-horned Mt Manaslu (8,156m)
and four 7,000m peaks in the Ganesh massif. But the trails here serve a far more
important function than simply the enjoyment of tourists.

They are the
lifeblood of Nepal’s mountain communities, connecting people with health posts
and government offices, providing access to essential commodities and enabling
children safer passage to schools.Upgrading these trails, for instance building
bridges across rivers and ravines, can shave hours off daily journeys, change
the price of local commodities like rice and lentils and also make it easier
for tourists to explore rural areas. Similarly, destroyed trails can have
a disastrous impact on peoples’ livelihoods. This was the case in Manaslu where
landslides triggered by the 2015 earthquake blocked the Budhi Gandaki river.
(The new pathway will be two hours faster and much safer than the alternative routes used after the earthquake. Photo credit: ITECO )
As a result the
river changed course eastwards and the trails at Jagat Gaun in Sirdibash and
Yaru Bagar in Kerauja were swept away. Villagers were forced to use lengthy and
dangerous diversions and tourism business dried up threatening people’s
livelihoods.UKaid has now funded construction of a 195 meter long steel
cantilever pathway, (the first of its kind Nepal). The pioneering passage runs
along the side of Yaru Bagar of the Budhi Gandaki river in Kerauja VDC of
Gorkha district. As well as serving around 8,000 local inhabitants the access
route will ensure that visitors can return to the Manaslu Circuit for the start
of this autumn trekking season.( Artical from Great Himalaya Trail)

BBC News Delhi (10 Feb.2015)An anti-corruption party has won a stunning victory in the Delhi state elections in a huge setback for India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The BJP admitted defeat after Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) won 67 of the 70 assembly seats.Mr Modi congratulated the AAP leader, whose career seemed doomed a year ago when he quit as Delhi's chief minister over a crucial anti-corruption bill.

It is the BJP's first setback since it triumphed in the 2014 general election.Correspondents say the win marks a remarkable comeback for Arvind Kejriwal, a former tax inspector. His party was routed by the BJP in last May's general elections, months after the AAP made a spectacular debut in the 2013 Delhi elections.Mr Modi has enjoyed huge popularity since taking office last year, winning a string of local elections and wooing international investors and world leaders.Final results gave Mr Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) just three seats. India's main opposition Congress party failed to win even a single seat. Mr Kejriwal told cheering party supporters that the "people of Delhi have achieved something spectacular". "With the help of people, we will make Delhi a city which both poor and rich will feel proud of," he said.As supporters showered him with rose petals, Mr Kejriwal said the huge mandate was "very scary and we should live up to people's expectations".The BJP's campaign was essentially anti-AAP and the party leaders often criticised Mr Kejriwal at their rallies and road shows.Mr Kejriwal, meanwhile, conducted an energetic campaign which proved popular with working class and underprivileged voters who make up 60% of Delhi's population. The BJP fielded former policewoman Kiran Bedi as its candidate for chief minister.

fighter plane crashed during NATO training at the Albacete air base in Spain.
REUTERS/L.De Miguel Eight French nationals and two Greeks were killed and 21
people injured when a Greek fighter plane crashed during NATO training in
Spain, Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy said. The F-16 crashed at about
3:20pm on Monday (local time) shortly after taking off at a training centre in
Albacete, 260 km (160 miles) southeast of the capital Madrid. "There are
also quite a lot of people injured ... 10 French people, 11 Italians,"
Rajoy said in an interview with Telecinco TV.

The
Greek fighter jet was carrying out a NATO training exercise at the Spanish base
but something went wrong during the take-off. "The plane lost power,
crashing into the parking area for planes, crashing into various planes that
were parked there," the defence ministry said in a statement. Two pilots
on board were among the dead and other pilots and mechanics were underneath the
plane in the parking area, according to Spanish media reports. French Mirage
and Italian Alpha Jet planes were parked when the plane crashed, the defence
ministry said. Five of the injured were taken to a specialist burns unit at La
Paz Hospital in Madrid while the others were treated at a hospital in Albacete.
"I am deeply saddened," NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said
in a statement. "This is a tragedy which affects the whole NATO family. I
express my heartfelt condolences to the loved ones and the nations of those who
lost their lives, and I wish a speedy recovery to the injured." Reuters

size is normally in practice as 10 to 20 in numbers. We cant imagine
more than 100 members in a single family. But here in this video a

Village in India’s north-east state of Mizoram, is probably the largest

WASHINGTON (AP) — A spokesman for President Barack Obama said Monday that a "device" was found on the grounds of the White House while the president and first lady were in India but that it posed no threat. It was unclear if the president's daughters were at home at the time of the incident. Secret Service had no immediate comment on what it found.
Police, fire and other emergency vehicles swarmed around the White House in the pre-dawn hours, with several clustered near the southeast entrance to the mansion.

The White House was dark and the entire perimeter was on lockdown until around 5 a.m., when pass holders who work in the complex were allowed inside."There is a device that has been recovered by the Secret Service at the White House," said press secretary Josh Earnest. "The early indications are that it does not pose any sort of ongoing threat to anybody at the White House."Earnest spoke from New Delhi, where Obama and his wife, Michelle, were on a three-day visit. They also planned to stop in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday before they return to Washington. The incident is the latest in a string of White House security breaches that have led to questions about Secret Service effectiveness. Four of the agency's highest-ranking executives were reassigned earlier this month. Former Director Julia Pierson's was forced to resign last year after a Texas man armed with a knife was able to get over a White House fence in September and run deep into the executive mansion before being subdued. An independent panel, which investigated the agency's leadership and practices in the wake of the September incident and the disclosure of a previously unreported security breach earlier that month, recommended hiring a new director from outside the agency. That report was the second critical review of the agency responsible for protecting the president. In November the Homeland Security Department, which oversees the Secret Service, released an internal investigation about the fence-scaling incident, which concluded that poor training, staff and a series of missteps led to the breach.Homeland Security investigators found, among other things, that uniformed agents patrolling the White House grounds the night of Sept. 19 mistakenly assumed that thick bushes near the mansion's front door would stop the intruder.
Mr Obama arrived in India on Sunday for a three-day visit seen as a sign of warming ties between the two allies. On Sunday, both sides announced a breakthrough on a pact that will allow US companies to supply India with civilian nuclear technology.Indian PM Narendra Modi said it was a "new journey" of co-operationMr Obama will meet the main opposition Congress party leaders later on Monday and will also speak at a business summit.

Trade vow
Republic Day marks the adoption of India's constitution in 1950, three years after independence from Britain.Uniformed soldiers in colourful headgear are marching down Rajpath, or King's Avenue, where Mr Obama is watching the parade with Mr Modi inside a bullet-proof glass enclosure. The BBC's Sanjoy Majumder in Delhi says the ceremony showcases India's military might with soldiers marching in formation and the latest weapons on display, including several that are American-made. "The day is all about patriotism and I'm lucky to be a part of it," Ajith Kumar, a student watching the parade, said. "The fact that we have a guest like Obama has made it all the more special.""Warm hugs" have set the tone for the visit, as the BBC's Yogita Limaye reportsThe US president received a warm welcome on Sunday when Mr Modi greeted him at the airport with a bear hug. The two men spent several hours discussing defence and trade ties, and then announced the breakthrough on the civilian nuclear deal. The pact was agreed in 2008 but has been held up for six years because of differences over the liability US firms would face in India in the event of a nuclear accident. Now a large insurance pool will be set up, without the need for any further legislation. The two sides have also pledged to increase their bilateral trade five-fold, from the current $100bn (£66.7bn) a year, and build co-operation on defence projects. Mr Obama's visit to India has been shortened so he can visit Saudi Arabia and pay his respects following the death of King Abdullah. It means he and his wife, Michelle, will not now visit the Taj Mahal.
